To be eligible for entry into this course you must have completed Year 12 or equivalent (i.e. completed high school/secondary school)
This course aims to equip people to assist a language project team in communities whose language is unwritten. Students train specifically to work either in translation/linguistics or in literacy roles. Work in translation/linguistics typically involves activities such as language survey, phonological and grammatical analysis, dictionary compiling, orthography design and translation of relevant materials. The literacy work typically involves activities such as phonological analysis and orthography design, instructional materials design and production, curriculum development, literacy tutor training, and supervision of literacy workers.
